Francesca Piazza teaches Philosophy of Language and Rhetoric at the University of Palermo. Her main fields of research are rhetoric and pragmatics with a particular focus on Aristotle and ancient Greek thought. On these topics she has published several articles and three books: Il corpo della persuasione. L’entimema nella retorica greca (Ed. Novecento, 2000); Linguaggio persuasione, verità. La retorica nel Novecento (Carocci, 2004); La Retorica di Aristotele. Introduzione alla lettura (Carocci, 2008). Currently, her interest is mainly focused on the relationship between language and violence, which is the topic of her latest book, La parola e la spada. Violenza e linguaggio attraverso l’Iliade (Il Mulino, 2019).
